Clinics, surgery centers and hospitals in Olympia and the South Sound sometimes look beyond local vendors for a C-arm, whether to find a specific refurbished model, a better price or a long-term rental. Mr. Biomed Tech Services ships C-arms to Washington from our Garland, Texas headquarters and provides on-site setup and service in Olympia, with visits scheduled in advance. This checklist covers what a Washington facility needs to arrange for C-arm rental, C-arm repair and C-arm sales from out of state. Browse current units on our medical equipment page.
1. Check Washington X-ray requirements first
Washington regulates X-ray equipment through the Department of Health. The Washington DOH X-ray program handles equipment registration and inspections. Before a C-arm is used on patients in Olympia, confirm with your radiation safety officer how the unit will be registered, whether a shielding or acceptance review is needed for your room, and who will perform any required testing. Rules differ from Texas, so do not assume a Texas process applies.
2. Match the C-arm to your procedures
Tell us the procedures, patient sizes and rooms the C-arm will serve. Orthopedics and spine, pain management, urology and vascular work each need different detector sizes, power and software. Our C-arm machines guide explains models and options, and mobile C-arm machines for sale covers buying refurbished.
3. Decide: buy, or rent long-term
For a facility in Washington, short rentals are less practical because of freight time and cost each way. Buying, or renting for several months or longer, usually makes more sense. If you need a C-arm only for a few weeks, ask about timing before you commit. Long-term rentals are available through our medical equipment rental service.
4. Plan freight and receiving
- Confirm the delivery address, dock or ground-level access, liftgate needs and receiving hours.
- Measure doors, elevators and corridors on the route to the procedure room.
- Arrange for staff to inspect crates on arrival and note any damage on the delivery receipt.
- Keep the unit crated until our engineer arrives, unless we agree otherwise.
5. Setup and acceptance
We schedule an on-site visit to uncrate, assemble and test the C-arm, check image quality and safety functions, connect image export or PACS, and train the staff who will use it. Allow for any acceptance testing your Washington radiation safety program requires before clinical use.
6. Plan service before you need it
Because service visits to Olympia are scheduled in advance, a little planning prevents long gaps:
- Book preventive maintenance at the intervals the manufacturer recommends, grouped with other equipment where possible.
- Keep a log of error codes and image issues, with photos of error screens.
- Ask which spare parts, such as footswitches or cables, are worth keeping on site.
- Know what your backup plan is if the C-arm goes down before a scheduled case.
Service requests receive a response in under 8 business hours, Monday through Friday, and our CBET-certified engineers handle the work. For broader support across your equipment, see our clinical engineering services and medical equipment inspection.
7. Protect staff and patients
Whatever state you are in, fluoroscopy dose is managed by technique and maintenance. The FDA's fluoroscopy page is a good starting reference for staff training.
8. Plan for the end of the C-arm's life
When a C-arm is replaced, it still has value. Our medical equipment disposition service can resell or recycle retired units and provide documentation.
C-arm rental, repair and sale in Olympia: FAQs
Do you deliver C-arms to Olympia, Washington?
Yes. We ship from Texas and provide on-site setup and service in Olympia, with visits scheduled in advance.
Who registers the C-arm in Washington?
The facility using the C-arm is responsible for meeting Washington DOH requirements. Check with DOH and your radiation safety officer.
Is renting practical from out of state?
Longer rentals are practical; very short rentals are usually not, because of freight time.
Do refurbished C-arms have a warranty?
Yes. Refurbished C-arms from Mr. Biomed Tech Services come with a 90-day warranty.
Mr. Biomed Tech Services is an independent provider and is not affiliated with any C-arm manufacturer.
9. Compare total cost, not just price
When comparing a C-arm from Texas with a local option, add up the purchase or rental price, freight both ways for a rental, crating, on-site setup, training, warranty coverage and how service visits are scheduled and billed. A lower unit price can be offset by freight and travel, or a better-configured refurbished unit can be worth the shipping. Ask every supplier for the same items in writing so the comparison is fair.
Also check timing. If your first cases are booked, work back from that date to allow for freight, receiving, setup, any Washington acceptance testing and staff training. Building a buffer of a week or two avoids rescheduling patients if a crate is delayed in transit.
