A new hospital bed can cost several thousand dollars. A used hospital bed that has been inspected, repaired and cleaned does the same job for much less. Mr. Biomed Tech Services sells used hospital beds for sale in Texas, including reconditioned Hillrom and Stryker beds for homes, nursing homes, clinics and hospitals. Browse our new and pre-owned medical equipment, or rent a bed first through our hospital bed rental service if you aren't sure how long you will need it.
Why buy a used hospital bed from us:
- Every bed is inspected and tested before it is sold, and you get the record.
- Reconditioned beds carry a 90-day warranty.
- Same-day delivery and setup across Dallas–Fort Worth; scheduled delivery to the rest of Texas.
- We repair and service the bed after you buy it.
Used, second-hand or reconditioned: what's the difference?
| Term | What it usually means | What to ask the seller |
|---|---|---|
| Used / second-hand | Previously owned, sold as-is | Has it been tested? Is there any warranty? |
| Refurbished / reconditioned | Inspected, worn parts replaced, cleaned and tested | Which parts were replaced? Is there a written warranty? |
| Demo or lightly used | Short use, often from a showroom or a short rental | How many hours or months of use? |
Our used beds are sold reconditioned, not as-is, so you know the motors, controls and rails work before the bed arrives.
What we check on every used hospital bed
- Motors and actuators: head, foot and height run through their full range under load.
- Hand control and staff controls: every button works, and lockouts work where fitted.
- Side rails: rails latch, release smoothly and leave no unsafe gaps with the mattress.
- Brakes and casters: all four lock, and the bed rolls straight.
- Battery backup (where fitted) takes and holds a charge.
- Electrical safety: cord, plug and leakage tested.
- Cleaning: frame cleaned and disinfected; the mattress cover checked for tears.
Rail and mattress fit matters because of entrapment risk; the FDA's hospital bed safety page explains why.
Which used hospital bed should you buy?
- For home care: a full-electric bed lets the patient change position without help. A low bed lowers the risk from falls.
- For nursing homes and assisted living: beds with bed-exit alarms and low height, such as the Hillrom VersaCare or Stryker Secure II.
- For hospitals and ICUs: beds with built-in scales and advanced positioning, such as the Hillrom Progressa. See our guide to ICU bed sales and rental.
- For larger patients: bariatric beds with wider frames and higher weight limits.

| New | You want the latest model and the longest warranty |
| Rental | You need the bed for weeks, or aren't sure yet |
After you buy: service and repair
Beds wear out motors, hand controls and casters over time. Our hospital bed repair team services the beds we sell and the ones you already own, and our annual equipment inspection keeps facility records up to date. Replacing a bed? We can take the old one through our medical equipment disposition service.
